The Greek philosopher Aristotle once said that everything happens for a reason and if we look at this pandemic and the impact it has had on educational institutions, we are convinced to believe it. This pandemic was a blessing in disguise, just how it has taken our “normal lifestyle” from us, it did force us to integrate technology in our lives which, let’s face it, was the need of the hour.
On March 11, 2020, the WHO (World Health Organization) declared COVID-19 a global pandemic, that spurred big changes in educational industry and since year 2020, a large of number of educational institutes, that weren’t using any technology before this prevailing pandemic, had switched to remote learning, resulting in introducing their students to the use of technology in education and making it a “new normal”.
John Dewey, an American philosopher, quote says it all.
“If we teach today as we taught yesterday,
we rob our children of tomorrow.”
According to research done mid-pandemic, a large number of students changed their schools just because these institutions, instead of taking advantage of the situation and switching to remote learning, sat back and waited for this to be over and get back to their “old normal”.
Schools have now automated all their process, from creating, conducting, checking the entry tests to sharing the results and converting the candidates into students. They have provided teachers software that they can use to prepare the lesson plans, quizzes and assignments online. Teachers can deliver lectures online and keep them saved there. They can check assignments, generate results and share them with parents online. Same way, parents can monitor their kids’ performance whenever they want. Parents also have the facility of submitting fee at the click of a button.
Long story short, educational institutions are now switching to fully automated systems and parents are preferring the schools that are adapting these changes. Parents are realizing that traditional methods are not preparing their kids for the future. If you’re an institute still following the traditional ways of teaching you need to step up your game. Since 2021, a significant growth rate was seen in EdTech industry and this pandemic has been the catalyst of this growth.
